What is a CCO?
Coach Certifying Organizations (CCOs) include two key types of institutions:
Professional Accreditation Organizations (PAOs)
These are global bodies that set professional coaching standards, accredit coach training programs, and certify individual coaches.
Examples: International Coaching Federation (ICF), EMCC Global, Association for Coaching (AC).
Coach Training Organizations (CTOs)
These are schools, academies, and institutions that deliver coach training, prepare coaches for certification, and award diplomas or certificates.
Examples: Co-Active Training Institute (CTI), iPEC Coaching, Mindvalley/Evercoach.
In short:
- PAOs set the standards and accredit.
- CTOs teach and certify based on those standards (or their own).
