About

Program overview

The ICCP-1 Associate Certification Module is the foundational entry point into Integral Coaching Canada's three-module certification pathway. It is a self-contained five-month program providing 60 ICF-accredited training hours and earning the ICC Integral Associate Coach™ credential, the first of three designations in the Integral Coaching® certification ladder.

ICCP-1 is designed to stand alone. Coaches who complete it are fully certified Integral Associate Coaches™ and ready to practice the Integral Coaching® method with clients. It is also the prerequisite for ICCP-2 (Professional) and ICCP-3 (Master), making it the natural starting point for anyone considering the full program.

This module introduces the core of the Integral Coaching® approach: the AQAL developmental map, two Integral lenses for understanding a client's current way of being, and the methodology for designing coaching engagements that create genuine developmental movement, not just behavioral change. Participants practice the method with real clients throughout the five months, supported by a "just-in-time" faculty model that provides instruction precisely when participants encounter it in their actual coaching work.

Who it's for

  • Coaches new to the Integral® framework who want a rigorous, methodologically coherent entry into developmental coaching

  • Experienced coaches who want to add an Integral backbone to an existing practice that is calling for renewal and greater depth

  • Those who want to start practicing Integral Coaching® within five months, with full certification

  • Coaches who want an ACC-eligible pathway grounded in one of the most philosophically serious methodologies in the field

  • Those considering the full ICCP (Modules 1–3) who want to enter through the foundational module

What you'll learn

The Integral Coaching® method

The core methodology: how to understand a client's current way of being through Integral lenses, how to identify the developmental movement being called for, and how to design and deliver a coaching engagement that supports that movement. Participants learn the methodology by doing it with real clients, in real time, with faculty support arriving precisely when they need it.

Two Integral lenses

Two specific lenses drawn from the AQAL framework that allow coaches to see clients with a precision and completeness that behavioral observation alone cannot provide. These lenses become the coach's primary diagnostic and generative tools.

Coaching competencies and embodied practice

All ICF Core Coaching Competencies integrated throughout. The module also develops the coach's own "way of being", the embodied qualities of presence, attention, and care that allow the Integral Coaching® method to work at full power.

Just-in-time learning architecture

Group video calls with the Module Instructor combined with one-on-one calls with an ICC Integral Master Coach™. Faculty support is designed to arrive when participants are encountering the methodology in their coaching work, not weeks before or after.

What makes it distinctive

ICCP-1 is the only entry-level certification in the world that provides genuine immersion in the Integral Coaching® methodology: real client work, MCC-level faculty oversight, and a developmental framework sophisticated enough to support coaches throughout their entire career. It is a five-month commitment that produces coaches who understand what they're doing and why, not a quick-start program.

Five months teach you more than how to coach; they teach you how to see. The Integral lenses change what you notice, what you ask, and what becomes possible for your clients.

Frequently asked

Questions about ICCP-1: Associate Certification Module

Q.01

What credential does completing ICCP-1 earn?

Completing ICCP-1 earns the ICC Integral Associate Coach™ designation, Integral Coaching Canada's certified Associate-level credential. The program also provides 60 ICF-accredited training hours, satisfying the training requirement for the ICF Associate Certified Coach (ACC) credential, plus 5.75 of the 10 required ICF mentor coaching hours.

Q.02

Is ICCP-1 ICF-accredited?

Yes. ICCP-1 provides 60 ICF-accredited training hours under ACTP accreditation, the earlier ICF terminology, equivalent to Level 2+ on the current pathway framework. This satisfies the training-hours requirement for the ACC credential. Graduates apply to ICF independently after completing the required mentor coaching hours and coaching experience.

Q.03

What is the AQAL framework and why does it matter in coaching?

AQAL (All Quadrants, All Levels) is Ken Wilber's integrative developmental map, a framework that accounts for interior and exterior dimensions of human experience across individual and collective scales. Integral Coaching Canada uses AQAL as the underlying map for understanding a client's current way of being, including what they see, what they don't, and what developmental movement would expand their capacity. ICCP-1 introduces two specific AQAL-derived lenses that become the coach's primary diagnostic and generative tools throughout the program.

Q.04

How does ICCP-1 relate to ICCP-2 and ICCP-3?

ICCP-1 is the foundational module, a self-contained five-month certification that stands alone. It introduces the Integral Coaching® methodology and earns the ICC Integral Associate Coach™ credential. ICCP-2 deepens coaching fluency for 65 additional ICF hours (125 total, PCC pathway), earning the ICC Integral Professional Coach™. ICCP-3 reaches mastery level for 77 more hours (202 total, MCC pathway), earning the ICC Integral Master Coach™. ICCP-1 is prerequisite for both; neither ICCP-2 nor ICCP-3 is required to practice as a certified Integral coach.

Q.05

Who is ICCP-1 designed for?

ICCP-1 is designed for two groups: coaches entering the field who want a rigorous, methodologically coherent foundation in developmental coaching, and experienced coaches whose current practice feels thin, who sense that skill-building alone isn't producing the depth of change their clients need. No prior coaching experience is required. Coaches completing ICCP-1 are credentialed and ready to practice with clients.

Q.06

How does the just-in-time learning model work?

Rather than front-loading theory before client work begins, ICCP-1 structures faculty support to arrive while participants are encountering the methodology in live coaching engagements. Group video calls with the Module Instructor and one-on-one calls with an ICC Integral Master Coach™ are timed to match where participants are in their real client work. Instruction is immediately applicable, not something to remember and apply later.

Q.07

How does Integral Coaching differ from ICF competency-based coaching?

ICF competency-based coaching trains coaches in behaviors and skills such as establishing agreements, listening actively, asking powerful questions, and creating accountability. These are real competencies, and the ICF framework for assessing them is rigorous. Integral Coaching differs in its underlying theory of what a coaching conversation is for. Where ICF training helps coaches develop behaviors, Integral Coaching trains coaches to work with a client's way of being, the structure of how the client makes meaning, interprets experience, and inhabits their life. The AQAL framework gives coaches a map for seeing clients developmentally, not just behaviorally. ICCP-1 meets all ICF training requirements, so graduates can pursue ICF credentials; the Integral methodology is the vehicle, not a substitute for those competencies.

Q.08

Can I take ICCP-1 with no prior coaching experience?

Yes. ICCP-1 has no prerequisites, and the program is structured to work for coaches at the beginning of their training as well as experienced coaches who want to add an Integral foundation. The just-in-time faculty model is particularly suited to new coaches: instruction arrives as participants are working with clients, so there's no gap between learning a concept and encountering it in live coaching work. That said, ICCP-1 is a demanding five-month commitment; participants are coaching real clients throughout the module. The program expects sustained, active engagement.

Q.09

What does an ICCP-1 certification signal to a client?

It signals that the coach spent five months learning the Integral Coaching® method under ICF Master Certified Coach supervision, completed real coaching engagements within the program, and earned 60 ICF-accredited hours under an ACTP-accredited curriculum. The ICC Integral Associate Coach™ designation is verified by Integral Coaching Canada, one of the most philosophically serious coach training schools in North America. Integral coaching is not therapy: an ICC-trained coach works within a coaching scope and refers clinical mental health concerns appropriately.

Q.10

What should I ask an ICCP-1-trained coach before hiring them?

Ask whether they hold the full ICC Integral Associate Coach™ designation, which requires completing and having client work assessed, or completed the coursework only. Ask how many coaching hours they have logged since graduating. Ask them to describe what 'the observer' means in their practice; the answer reveals how deeply they've internalized the Integral methodology rather than just passing through a curriculum. Confirm they understand the scope distinction between coaching and therapy; Integral coaching works at significant depth, including identity and ways of being, but a qualified practitioner maintains clear professional boundaries.
