US-based credentialing body established in 2012 — issues the NBC-HWC credential through a board exam developed with the National Board of Medical Examiners, with 13,000+ certified coaches.
Board certification in health and wellness coaching is not simply a credential. It is the signal that a coach has met independently verified standards, logged real client work, and passed an examination designed with the same rigour applied to medical licensing.
The National Board for Health & Wellness Coaching (NBHWC) is a US-based nonprofit credentialing organization established in 2012. It sets professional standards for health and wellness coaching and administers the board certification examination that leads to the NBC-HWC credential. In 2016 it partnered with the National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME) to develop and administer that exam.
