inviteCHANGE is a professional coaching solutions and education organisation founded in 1997 by Janet M. Harvey, MCC, in the United States. It is among the oldest continuously ICF-accredited coaching education providers in the world, and received that recognition the same year the ICF itself was establishing the standards for accreditation. Over nearly three decades, inviteCHANGE has built a distinctive identity as the home of Generative Coaching: a methodology grounded in how human beings actually think, choose, and change, rather than in prescriptive technique. The organisation's newer flagship framing, Generative Wholeness™, extends this same premise into leadership and organisational development work.

The organisation operates across two domains: coaching education (offering ICF Level 1&2, Level 3, and CCE programmes for individual coaches) and organisational consulting (leader and team development, coaching culture, and executive coaching for corporate clients). Both domains are unified by the Generative Coaching methodology and its core proposition that lasting change is chosen, not imposed.

Founder: Janet M. Harvey, MCC

Janet Harvey is an ICF Master Certified Coach with more than 12,000 coaching hours, primarily in organisational and executive leadership contexts. She founded inviteCHANGE in 1997 as a coach-centred practice at a time when professional coaching itself was barely defined as a discipline.

Her contributions to the profession extend well beyond her own organisation. Harvey served on the ICF Global Enterprise Board (2009 to 2013), as ICF Global President in 2012, and as Chair of the ICF Foundation Board (2010 to 2015). In 2007, inviteCHANGE introduced its mentor coaching competency model to the global coaching market; the competency and educational framework the ICF now uses to define and assess effective mentor coaching was shaped directly by this contribution. Harvey is the author of From Tension to Transformation and Invite Change: Lessons from 2020, and is a recognised voice in the global coaching community on consciousness, culture, and what it means to be generative.

Generative Coaching: The Core Methodology

The Generative Coaching approach at the heart of all inviteCHANGE programmes rests on a foundational insight: human beings are not broken systems to be fixed, but generative minds that are always creating their experience of the world through thought, language, attention, and interpretation. A coach working generatively helps clients see this creative process in themselves and consciously direct it.

Where many coaching models focus on behavioural goals and accountability structures, Generative Coaching works upstream, in the thinking patterns, assumptions, and meaning-making that produce behaviour in the first place. The result is change that holds: not because the client was monitored, but because their way of perceiving themselves and their situation has genuinely shifted.

This methodology is expressed across all levels of inviteCHANGE's curriculum, from foundational ACC-level work through to the MCC preparation programme, and is the lens through which the team coaching and mentor coaching tracks are also taught.

Coaching Education Programmes

inviteCHANGE offers a full ICF credential pathway from ACC through MCC, alongside specialised CCE and team coaching programmes. A self-paced ICF CCE study resource, Core Competency Insights, is also available on demand in PCC, MCC, and team coaching tracks.

Certified Generative Coach (ICF Levels 1 & 2, ACC/PCC)

inviteCHANGE's signature Certified Generative Coach programme is two courses totaling 130 contact hours across 31 live sessions. Course 1, Professional Generative Coaching (ICF Level 1), runs 15 two-hour sessions over about 6 months. Course 2, Be Generative As Coach (ICF Level 2), runs 16 two-hour sessions (4 weekly, then 12 bi-weekly) over 7 months. Each course includes 3 individual mentor coaching sessions plus 7 group mentor coaching hours, alongside asynchronous Learning Cloud coursework. Graduates meet the training-hour requirements for both the ICF Associate Certified Coach (ACC) and Professional Certified Coach (PCC) credentials. Certified Advanced Generative Coach Level 3 (ICF MCC)

The Certified Advanced Generative Coach Level 3 programme is specifically designed to support coaches developing toward ICF Master Certified Coach (MCC) demonstration. 75 contact learning hours, delivered through 24 weekly live video sessions (2 hours each, including group mentor coaching) plus 6 individual mentor coaching sessions and 9 practice coaching sessions, tailored to the student's unique coaching style and client base.

Certified Generative Mentor Coach (CGMC)

The Certified Generative Mentor Coach (CGMC) is a standalone programme for credentialed coaches who mentor others through the ACC, PCC, or MCC demonstration process: 45+ learning hours over 6 months, delivered as a live online cohort. It prepares coaches for the ICF Mentor Coach Specialization (MCS), with eligibility for ICF's Prior Learning and Standard pathways, and is grounded in the competency model inviteCHANGE introduced to the ICF in 2007. Designed for coaches at ACC level and above.

Generative Team Coaching Certification (ICF ACTC)

The Generative Team Coaching Certification is an ICF-recognised team coaching programme meeting the requirements for ICF Advanced Certification in Team Coaching (ACTC). 70 contact learning hours over 10 months, for practicing coaches with at least 300 hours of client coaching experience. Applies the Generative Coaching framework to the team context: coaching the relationship system, the culture, and the collective capacity of a group to generate results.

Corporate and Organisational Work

Alongside its coaching education portfolio, inviteCHANGE provides leader and team development consulting, executive coaching, and coaching culture design for corporate clients. This work includes Generative Conversation and Generative Coaching for individuals and for teams. The organisational services draw directly on the Generative Coaching and Generative Wholeness™ methodology: the same principles applied in individual coaching (attention to thinking patterns, meaning-making, and choice) are deployed at team and organisational scale.

This dual footprint of education and consulting reflects Harvey's original vision for inviteCHANGE: a practice that does not separate the development of coaches from the development of the organisations they serve.
